Description

Strawberry Kiss Cookies are soft, sweet treats made using a strawberry cake mix base, cream cheese, and finished with a classic chocolate Hershey’s Kiss. These cookies offer a perfect balance of fruity and chocolate flavors, with a delightful soft center and a slightly crisp edge. Ideal for parties, holidays, or simply a fun baking project, they are easy to prepare and loved by all ages.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) strawberry cake mix
  • 8 tablespoons (1/2 cup) butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened

Topping (Optional)

  • Powdered sugar or pink granulated sugar for rolling
  • 30 chocolate Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Mix wet and dry ingredients. Combine the strawberry cake mix, melted butter, and egg in a large bowl until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
  2. Incorporate cream cheese. Add the softened cream cheese to the batter and mix thoroughly until the dough becomes thick and fully blended.
  3. Chill the dough. Cover the dough and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour to prevent spreading during baking.
  4. Prepare baking sheets. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  5. Shape the cookies. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and optionally roll them in powdered sugar or pink granulated sugar for added sweetness and texture. Place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  6. Bake the cookies. Bake the cookies for 10 minutes or until the edges are set and the centers remain soft.
  7. Add the chocolate kiss. Allow the cookies to rest on the baking sheet for 1–2 minutes, then carefully press one unwrapped chocolate Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.
  8. Cool completely. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack and allow them to cool fully before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough is crucial to prevent the cookies from spreading too much during baking, ensuring a thick and soft texture.
  • Expect light cracking on the cookie surface when pressing the chocolate kiss in; this is normal and adds to the homemade charm.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature, where they will stay fresh for up to 3 days.
  • You can substitute the chocolate Hershey’s Kisses with other small wrapped chocolates or candy pieces according to preference.
