Description

Delightful and spooky Oreo Spiders made with peanut butter Oreos, dark chocolate, pretzel legs, and Reese’s Pieces eyes. Perfect for Halloween parties or fun themed treats that are easy to assemble and sure to impress kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 24 Peanut Butter Oreo Cookies
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips (170 grams)
  • 96 Pretzel Sticks, halved
  • 24 Reese’s Pieces Candies, halved

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oreos and Baking Sheet: Place the peanut butter Oreos on a large, parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them evenly to prepare for assembly.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Pour the dark chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 45 seconds. Stir well and continue reheating in 10-15 second increments, stirring each time, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
  3. Attach Legs: Dip the ends of four pretzel stick halves in the melted chocolate, then gently press them into one side of an Oreo to create four spider legs. Repeat this on the opposite side with four more pretzel halves, forming eight legs per spider.
  4. Create Spider Eyes: Use a toothpick to spread melted chocolate onto the cut sides of two matching Reese’s Pieces halves and place them cut side down on top of the Oreos to make spider eyes. Repeat for all spiders.
  5. Set Legs: Let the spiders sit until the chocolate legs are set firmly into the Oreos. If they are not set, refrigerate the tray for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Coat Pretzel Feet: Re-melt chocolate if necessary. Dip the bottom ends of the pretzel legs into the melted chocolate to form the spider’s feet and set them back on the baking sheet.
  7. Allow to Cool: Let the completed spiders cool until the chocolate is fully set, about 30 minutes at room temperature or 15 minutes in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Use peanut butter Oreos for the best flavor contrast with chocolate.
  • If the chocolate begins to harden while assembling, gently reheat in short bursts to keep it smooth.
  • Store finished spiders in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated to keep legs firm.
  • Pretzel sticks can be broken to smaller sizes if preferred smaller legs.
  • Dark chocolate chips offer a rich flavor, but semi-sweet can be used as an alternative.
