Description

These Jalapeno Popper Wonton Cups are a delicious and easy appetizer featuring crispy wonton wrappers filled with a creamy mixture of cream cheese, sour cream, bacon, cheddar cheese, and jalapeños. Perfectly baked until golden and melty, they offer a spicy, crunchy bite ideal for parties or snacks.

Ingredients

Scale

Wonton Cups

  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • Cooking spray

Filling

  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 12 oz. bacon, cooked and crumbled (reserve 2 Tbsp.)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (reserve 2 Tbsp.)
  • 3-4 jalapeños, seeded and chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the wonton cups.
  2. Prepare muffin pan: Lightly spray a muffin pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Bake wonton wrappers: Place one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup and bake for 10 minutes until they are lightly browned and crispy. Then, remove and let them cool slightly.
  4. Make filling: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, crumbled bacon (except the reserved 2 tablespoons), shredded cheddar cheese (except reserved 2 tablespoons), and chopped jalapeños. Mix well until creamy and evenly incorporated.
  5. Fill wonton cups: Spoon the jalapeño popper filling into each cooled wonton cup evenly.
  6. Add toppings: Sprinkle the reserved bacon and cheddar cheese evenly over the filled cups.
  7. Bake again: Return the filled wonton cups to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the wontons are golden brown and the cheese has melted.

Notes

  • For extra spicy cups, leave some jalapeño seeds in when chopping.
  • Use low-fat cream cheese and sour cream to reduce calories.
  • Wonton wrappers can be found in the produce or refrigerated section of most grocery stores.
  • Ensure the bacon is cooked crispy before crumbling for better texture.
  • These can be prepared ahead to the filling step and baked just before serving.
