Ingredients
Scale
Bean Layer
- 48 oz refried beans (three 16 oz cans)
- 1/4 cup taco seasoning
Guacamole Layer
- 3 cups guacamole
Sour Cream Web
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Toppings
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 4 green onions, chopped
Serving
- Warmed tortilla chips, for serving
- Plastic spider, for decoration
Instructions
- Mix the beans and seasoning: In a medium bowl, stir together the refried beans and taco seasoning thoroughly until well combined for a flavorful base layer.
- Spread the bean layer: Evenly spread the seasoned refried beans into a single layer along the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish, smoothing the surface with a spatula.
- Add the guacamole layer: Carefully spread the guacamole in a smooth, even layer over the refried beans.
- Create the spider web with sour cream: Using a squeeze bottle, piping bag, or a Ziploc bag with a small snipped corner, pipe two perpendicular lines of sour cream across the guacamole layer. Divide each section into two more, creating 16 sections total. Then pipe two small half circles across each section to form the outer and inner rows of the web design.
- Decorate with toppings: Arrange the diced tomato, shredded cheese, sliced black olives, and chopped green onions evenly around the perimeter of the dip to add color and texture. Place a plastic spider in the center of the web for a fun Halloween touch.
- Serve: Serve the dip immediately with warmed tortilla chips on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Use a squeeze bottle or piping bag for easier and cleaner sour cream web design.
- Warm the tortilla chips slightly before serving to enhance their flavor and texture.
- For a spicier dip, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the bean mixture.
- Substitute guacamole with mashed avocado with lime juice if desired.
- The plastic spider is a decorative addition and should be removed before eating.
