Description

Spooky and fun Halloween Spider Cupcakes featuring rich chocolate cupcakes topped with black frosting spiderwebs and playful toy spider rings. Perfect for Halloween parties and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Cupcakes

  • 24 baked chocolate cupcakes (preferably in black cupcake liners)

Frosting

  • 3 cups chocolate frosting
  • 1 cup white frosting
  • Black food coloring (enough to color chocolate frosting black)

Decorations

  • 24 toy spider rings

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cupcakes: Fill your cupcake liners a little less than two-thirds full with chocolate batter to ensure flat tops after baking. Bake according to your cupcake recipe instructions and allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
  2. Color Frosting: Mix black food coloring into the chocolate frosting until it reaches a deep black color suitable for the spiderweb design.
  3. Frost Cupcakes: Spread a thin layer of the black frosting evenly over the top of each cooled cupcake to create a dark base for the spiderweb.
  4. Create Spiderweb: Using white frosting and a small frosting tip or a ziplock bag with a small corner cut, pipe two white circles on each cupcake to form eyes with a white dot in the center of each circle.
  5. Draw Web Lines: Starting from the central dot of each eye, use a toothpick to drag straight lines outward toward the edge of the cupcake, repeating to form a spiderweb effect across the surface.
  6. Decorate with Spiders: Place one toy spider ring on top of each cupcake to complete the Halloween spider look.

Notes

  • Use black cupcake liners to enhance the spooky Halloween theme.
  • If you don’t have a small frosting tip, carefully cut a very small tip off a ziplock bag to pipe the white frosting.
  • Allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
  • Use gel-based food coloring for richer black frosting without thinning it.
  • Toy spider rings can be found at party stores or online.
