Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 package Red Velvet Oreos (22 cookies)
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 7 oz green candy melts
- Red heart sprinkles
Instructions
- Prep the baking sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside for the truffles to rest on.
- Make the Oreo mixture: In a food processor, pulse the Red Velvet Oreos until fine crumbs form. Add the cream cheese and process again until a soft dough forms.
- Form the truffle balls: Using a 1 tablespoon measuring spoon, scoop out the mixture, then roll it between your palms into smooth balls. Place them onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all dough is used. Chill the truffles in the freezer for 30 minutes.
- Melt the candy coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the green candy melts in 30-second increments, stirring in between. If the candy melts are too thick for dipping, add 1/2 teaspoon of coconut or unflavored oil and mix well to thin.
- Dip the truffles: Using a chocolate dipping fork, dip each chilled truffle ball into the melted candy to coat evenly. Place them back on the lined baking sheet.
- Decorate and set: Put leftover candy melts into a piping bag and drizzle on top of the coated truffles. Top each with a red heart sprinkle to mimic the Grinch’s heart. Refrigerate for a few minutes to allow them to set before serving.
Notes
- Use full-fat cream cheese for best texture and flavor.
- If you don’t have a food processor, crush the Oreos in a sealed bag with a rolling pin until finely ground, then mix with cream cheese by hand.
- Chilling in the freezer helps firm the balls so they dip easier without breaking apart.
- You can substitute green candy melts with white chocolate tinted green using food coloring if preferred.
- The addition of a small amount of oil thins the candy melts, making dipping smoother and preventing clumpy coating.
- Store finished truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
