Description
A classic grilled cheese sandwich recipe featuring golden, crispy bread and perfectly melted cheese, ideal for a quick and comforting meal.
Ingredients
Scale
Bread and Cheese
- 2 slices bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 3 slices cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite melting cheese)
Other
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice to help achieve a golden crispy texture while cooking.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat and let it warm up for a minute to ensure even cooking.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Put one slice of bread, buttered side down, into the skillet. Layer the cheese slices evenly on top of this bread slice.
- Top with Bread: Place the second slice of bread on top of the cheese, buttered side facing up to allow browning during cooking.
- Cook the Sandwich: Cook for 3 minutes or until the bottom slice turns golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side for another 3 minutes until golden and the cheese is melted.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for 1 minute to allow the cheese to set slightly. Slice and serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- For extra crispy bread, use mayonnaise on the outside of the slices instead of butter.
- Mix different cheeses such as cheddar, mozzarella, and gouda for a richer flavor.
- Cook on low-medium heat to ensure the cheese melts fully without burning the bread.
- Add extras like cooked bacon, sliced tomatoes, or caramelized onions for a gourmet twist.
