Description

A delicious and creamy white pizza featuring a homemade garlic pizza sauce, topped with mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, Italian seasoning, and fresh basil. Perfectly baked to achieve a golden crust and melted cheese for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Garlic Pizza Sauce Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1¼ cup whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, very finely chopped (or 3 teaspoons jarred minced garlic)
  • ¼ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese

Pizza Ingredients:

  • 1 homemade or store-bought pizza crust (12-14 inch)
  • 8 oz low moisture mozzarella cheese, grated
  • ½ cup garlic pizza sauce (from above recipe)
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Garnish:

  • 2 tablespoon fresh basil, chiffonade

Instructions

  1. Make Garlic Pizza Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and continue whisking for about 2 minutes without browning to create a roux.
  2. Add Milk: Slowly whisk in the whole milk, continuing to whisk until the mixture becomes smooth, thick, and bubbly, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Season and Add Garlic: Stir in sea salt, black pepper, and the finely chopped garlic. Whisk to combine thoroughly.
  4. Add Parmesan Cheese: Stir in grated parmesan cheese and whisk until just melted. Remove the sauce from heat and allow it to cool before use, or cover and refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  5. Prepare Oven and Crust: Preheat the oven to 450ºF. Roll out your pizza crust onto a 12-14 inch pizza pan or rectangular baking sheet if preferred.
  6. Season the Crust: Brush the crust evenly with olive oil and sprinkle Italian seasoning over the surface for flavor.
  7. Assemble the Pizza: Spread the prepared garlic pizza sauce evenly over the crust. Top with grated mozzarella and parmesan cheeses.
  8. Bake the Pizza: Place the pizza in the oven and bake for 12 minutes until the crust is cooked through and the cheeses are melted and bubbly.
  9. Add Garnish: Remove from oven and sprinkle fresh basil chiffonade on top before serving.

Notes

  • You can use a rectangular baking sheet as an alternative to a pizza pan and cut slices into squares or breadstick shapes.
  • Serve this white pizza with a side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • The garlic pizza sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan for the best flavor and texture.
  • Ensure not to brown the roux when whisking flour and butter to maintain a smooth sauce.
