Description

Cowboy Butter Garlic Bread is a deliciously cheesy and buttery appetizer featuring a crusty Italian loaf topped with savory cowboy butter, mozzarella, and parmesan cheeses. Perfectly baked until golden and melty, it’s an easy crowd-pleaser for gatherings or a flavorful side to any meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Butter Mixture

  • 1 cup cowboy butter, softened, divided

Bread and Cheese

  • 1 Italian loaf, cut in half horizontally
  • 2 cups (226 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded, divided
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) parmesan cheese, shredded, divided

Seasoning and Garnish

  • Salt, to taste
  • Parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside to prepare for the bread.
  2. Spread Cowboy Butter: Evenly spread about ½ cup of softened cowboy butter over the cut side of each half of the Italian loaf. Make sure to cover the surface well for full flavor.
  3. Add Cheese: Top each buttered bread half evenly with shredded mozzarella cheese followed by parmesan cheese. Sprinkle salt to taste over the cheese layers.
  4. Bake Bread: Place the prepared bread halves on the lined baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted and slightly golden.
  5. Slice and Garnish: Remove the bread from the oven and slice into 12 portions or preferred serving sizes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving to add a pop of color and fresh flavor.
  6. Optional Air Fryer Method: After spreading butter and cheese, cut the bread to fit your air fryer basket. Air fry at 350°F for 4 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown.

Notes

  • Make sure the cowboy butter is softened to spread easily on the bread.
  • You can substitute Italian loaf with other crusty bread like French baguette if desired.
  • Adjust the amount of cheese to your preference for a cheesier or lighter topping.
  • For crispier edges, bake an additional 2-3 minutes but watch closely to prevent burning.
  • The air fryer method is excellent for quick preparation and smaller batches.
