Description

Delicious Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats combining the classic crispy texture of rice cereal with rich peanut butter, melty marshmallows, and indulgent chocolate peanut butter cups, finished with crunchy mini Nutter Butter cookies and Reese’s Pieces garnish. A perfect sweet snack or dessert to satisfy your cravings.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Mixture

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 5 cups rice cereal
  • 1 cup marshmallows

Toppings

  • 6 peanut butter cups
  • 8-12 mini Nutter Butter cookies
  • Reese’s Pieces for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium-low heat. Add 10 ounces of mini marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
  2. Add Peanut Butter: Stir in 1/3 cup of creamy peanut butter until fully incorporated. Remove the mixture from heat to prevent burning.
  3. Mix in Cereal and Marshmallows: Add 5 cups of rice cereal and stir until all the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture. Then add 1 cup of marshmallows and stir to combine.
  4. Layer and Arrange: Lightly grease a 9×9 inch baking dish. Spread half of the cereal mixture evenly in the dish. Arrange 6 peanut butter cups and 8-12 mini Nutter Butter cookies over the layer.
  5. Top and Garnish: Spread the remaining cereal mixture over the arranged candies and cookies. Gently press Reese’s Pieces on top for garnish.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the treats to cool completely, about 1 hour, so they can set properly before cutting into 12 squares.

Notes

  • Greasing the baking dish prevents sticking and makes removal easier.
  • Use creamy peanut butter for smooth mixing; crunchy peanut butter can alter the texture.
  • You can substitute Reese’s Pieces with other candy, such as M&M’s or chocolate chips.
  • Press gently when adding toppings to avoid breaking the treats.
  • Store treats in an airtight container to keep them fresh up to 3 days.
