Description

Cherry Earl Grey Milk Tea is a delightful fusion of fragrant Earl Grey tea infused with fresh cherries, vanilla syrup, and warm milk. This comforting drink can be served hot or iced, offering a perfect blend of citrusy bergamot, sweet cherry notes, and creamy texture with an optional hint of cinnamon spice.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea and Cherry Base

  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag (or 1 tsp loose leaf Earl Grey tea)
  • 1 cup water
  • 4-5 fresh cherries (pitted and halved)
  • 2 tablespoons water (for simmering cherries)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Milk and Flavoring

  • 1/2 cup milk (any type: dairy, almond, oat, etc.)
  • 1-2 tsp vanilla syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice (optional for iced version)

Instructions

  1. Simmer Cherries: In a small saucepan, add the fresh cherries and 2 tablespoons of water. Simmer on low heat for 5 minutes until the cherries soften and release their juices. Gently mash the cherries to extract more flavor.
  2. Brew Tea: While the cherries simmer, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Steep the Earl Grey tea bag or loose leaves in the hot water for 5 minutes for a robust flavor. Remove the tea bag or strain the leaves.
  3. Heat Milk and Cherries: Pour the milk into the saucepan with the softened cherries and heat gently, stirring occasionally until warmed through. Add the cinnamon stick if using, allowing the spice to infuse the mixture.
  4. Add Vanilla Syrup: Stir in 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla syrup into the milk and cherry mixture, adjusting sweetness to your preference.
  5. Combine and Serve: Pour the brewed Earl Grey tea into a mug. Strain the warm milk and cherry mixture into the mug, pressing on the cherries to release all the juice. Stir well to combine.
  6. Optional Iced Serving: For iced tea, allow the mixture to cool slightly then pour over ice in a glass. For hot tea, serve immediately.
  7. Garnish: Garnish with a fresh cherry or a sprinkle of cinnamon on top for an extra touch.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe cherries for the best flavor. You can substitute frozen cherries if fresh are unavailable.
  • Adjust the vanilla syrup to control the sweetness; honey or maple syrup can be used as alternatives.
  • The cinnamon stick is optional but adds warm spice notes that complement the bergamot in Earl Grey tea.
  • For a vegan version, use plant-based milk options like almond, oat, or soy milk.
  • Straining the milk and cherries thoroughly ensures a smooth drink without cherry pulp.
