Description

This easy and delicious Pizza Baguette recipe combines a crispy French baguette with a flavorful tomato base, fresh mozzarella, red bell peppers, and green olives. Baked to golden perfection with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and sprinkled oregano, it’s a perfect quick meal or snack that can be customized to your taste.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 baguette (crispy, fresh and ready to go)
  • 2/3 cup pureed tomatoes (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 red bell pepper (washed, deseeded, thinly sliced)
  • Green olives (sliced very thinly)
  • 1 ball fresh mozzarella (diced, add extra if desired)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (for drizzling)
  • Dried oregano (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 390ºF (200°C) on the fan setting to get it ready for baking the baguette pizza.
  2. Slice the baguette in half: Cut the baguette lengthwise into two halves and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  3. Spread the tomato paste: Evenly spread the pureed tomato over each half of the baguette, then season lightly with salt and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil to add flavor and aid in crisping.
  4. Prepare the bell pepper: Wash, deseed, and slice the red bell pepper into thin strips to provide a sweet crunch on top of the pizza baguette.
  5. Slice the olives and dice the mozzarella: Thinly slice the green olives and dice the fresh mozzarella cheese for layering on the baguette halves.
  6. Add the toppings: Arrange the olives on the tomato-covered baguette halves first, followed by the bell pepper strips and then scatter the diced mozzarella evenly over the top.
  7. Season with oregano and olive oil: Sprinkle dried oregano over the toppings and drizzle some extra virgin olive oil to enhance aroma and taste.
  8. Bake the pizza baguette: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the baguette is golden and crispy and the cheese has melted beautifully.
  9. Serve hot: Remove from the oven and serve immediately for the best taste and texture of this easy pizza baguette.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize your pizza baguette with other toppings like mushrooms, ham, or fruits to suit your taste preferences.
  • Using a traditional French baguette is recommended for a perfect crispy outside and soft inside texture.
  • Avoid spreading tomato paste on the edges of the baguette to keep them crispy during baking.
  • You can add extra mozzarella cheese if you prefer a cheesier pizza baguette.
  • If you want a spicier flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes along with the oregano.
