Description

This Baked Brie with Jam recipe is a delightful appetizer featuring a creamy brie wheel wrapped in flaky puff pastry, topped with fig jam and crunchy walnuts. Perfectly golden and served with fruits, crackers, or crostini, it’s an elegant and easy-to-make dish for entertaining or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 10 ounce brie cheese wheel (8-12 ounces)
  • 1/3 cup fig jam (see notes for other jam options)
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 egg, mixed with 1 tablespoon of water
  • Fruit, crackers, or crostini for serving
  • Rosemary or thyme sprigs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400℉ (204℃) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Gently roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to a 10-12 inch square on a clean surface.
  3. Assemble Brie: Place the brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry. Spread the fig jam evenly on top of the brie and sprinkle chopped walnuts over the jam.
  4. Cut Pastry Corners: Make a cut at each corner of the puff pastry towards the center, stopping about ½ inch from the brie so you create four triangular flaps.
  5. Wrap Brie: Bring each triangular corner up and over the brie, folding it like a pinwheel. Press the seams together and brush the edges with the egg wash to seal. Chill the wrapped brie in the fridge for 20 minutes to help the pastry hold its shape.
  6. Brush and Bake: Remove from the fridge and brush the entire pastry-wrapped brie with the remaining egg wash for a golden finish. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry turns golden brown and puffed.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove from oven and let the baked brie stand for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with rosemary or thyme if desired. Serve warm with fruits, crackers, or crostini.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the jam flavor and type of nuts according to your preference.
  • Toasting the walnuts beforehand enhances their flavor and crunch.
  • Chilling the wrapped brie before baking prevents the cheese from melting too quickly and leaking out.
  • For make-ahead prep, assemble and wrap the brie in puff pastry, then cover and refrigerate for up to 3 hours. Apply egg wash right before baking.
  • Best enjoyed fresh; leftovers can be refrigerated wrapped in plastic for up to 2 days and reheated in a 400℉ oven to restore crispness.
